“Felicia makes the whole lesson a favorite — not just one part. When we’re practicing, and if I have been struggling to understand a technique, Felicia is so excited to see my progress and tell me how much I’ve improved!

Felicia’s lessons are all truly my favorite”

Voices From the Community

"I have always had a great passion for singing and have performed in musicals from a very young age. When I was a junior in high school, however, I was diagnosed with a vocal injury due to unsupported singing throughout the years. After getting the recommendation from my choir teacher, I began working with Felicia Betts shortly after my diagnosis. Felicia did an excellent job at building my voice back up and helping me overcome my fears post injury. She helped me find my sound again and also gave me a lot of tools in order to prevent injury again in the future. In addition, Felicia is very helpful when it comes to audition prep and guided me through my college auditions. I am now a freshman receiving my BFA in musical theatre and my voice is the healthiest it's ever been. I am so grateful for everything Felicia has taught me and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for lessons."

“I have been taking voice lessons with Felicia for over a year, and I have learned so much. She is knowledgeable and patient and designs our lessons to fit my interests and strengths. I highly recommend her as a voice teacher!”

"Felicia Betts is a fantastic vocal coach...Felicia has allowed and encouraged me to experiment, practice, and constantly improve. In addition to causing a drastic improvement in my singing, she makes it incredibly entertaining and lets me sing songs I want to sing…10/10!"

Andrew S.

“I've been working with Felicia for a few months, and she is amazing! I noticed improvement within my first couple lessons. I strongly recommend her for beginners (like me) or even those trying to improve upon their skills.

Yuri J.

"Felicia is a great teacher, I have improved so much in just 3 months. I love my lessons and can’t even believe how much I have learned."

April L.

"I have been working with Felicia for a little over a month and a half…She helped me understand how my whole body is an instrument and it's not just forcing out sounds through my throat…I have learned the importance of actually understanding how we are able to create beautiful voice through changes we make with our whole body. Definitely would recommend to any beginner looking to build a solid foundation!"

What Felicia’s Students Are Up To

Marisa Rieger takes the stage as a singer on the worship team at Capital Life Church in Arlington, Virginia. In her voice lessons, Marisa is diligently perfecting "Both Sides Now" and Pippin's Song, honing her belting and mixing techniques, and drawing inspiration from the soulful sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and Adele. Congratulations, Marisa--your dedication and passion have truly paid off!

  • I am working on the songs "Both Sides Now," originally sung by Joni Mitchell, and Pippin's Song from The Lord of the Rings. Regarding technique, we are working on my mixed voice and starting our belting journey!

  • I wanted to improve my singing skills! My mother encouraged me to take voice lessons because I sang all around the house during the pandemic.

  • Hanging out with Felicia and her cat Jean-Philippe! But no, my favorite part of voice lessons is growing and developing as a singer and hitting notes that I haven't been able to hit before.

  • Everything is hard! The early big challenge was just understanding how to create certain sounds; it was hard to develop a frame of reference for all the things you have to make your body do.

  • I hope to worship the Lord and inspire others to sing!

Gabby shares her performance of “On My Own” from the musical Les Misérables, and shares that she has been working on improving resonance and connecting emotions in her voice lessons! Inspired by artists like Sara Bareilles and Renée Elise Goldsberry, Gabby aims to continuously improve and share her love for singing throughout life!

  • We have focusing on finding a stronger resonance in lower and higher registers. We have also been focusing on connecting my singing with emotions.

  • My chorus teacher recommended me here while looking for a new voice teacher. I am so grateful because this has helped me improve so much!

  • I like how we also look at the physical aspects of singing. For example, why certain breaths can help with support and why a lower or higher larynx is preferred for a specific sound. I am able to have a lot of fun while also working hard.

  • The biggest challenge for me is definitely when I am learning a new technique/piece and I am struggling to get it right. In my mind before, I thought I had to be immediately perfect with everything I attempted. However, throughout my vocal lessons, I have learned that it is normal to not get everything right on the first try and to not stand in my own way.

  • I hope to continuously improve. I have loved singing since I was little, and it is something I wish to continue throughout the rest of my life!

Sienna shares her performance of “Dites-moi” from the musical South Pacific and talks about what she has been vocally working on as of late, which artists inspire her the most, and how she inspires to be a successful singer someday and share her talent with the world!

  • I have been working on solfège and rehearsing and practicing songs!

  • My cousin Isla recommended her! I sing all the time and make up songs and have been doing it since I was very little, and when I decided to take voice lessons, Isla recommended Ms. Felicia.

  • She is nice, she believes in me and she encourages me to work as hard as she does. I hope to sing like her someday!

  • The solfège syllable "te" is the biggest challenge for me.

  • I want to be a successful singer someday and share my music and songs with the world!
